Freikorps Crest, i think, but is the camo ok?

Andrew

Thanks very much! THis is why I ALWAYS post on a forum before bidding. I was sure there was a problem with the camo- And I could see that the liner was post-WWI. Could anyone possibly find a good one for me to look at?

What about these?

the second listed item ask for more pis . it looks OK from pics posted but ask for pics of sides . My moniter is shot so I assume it is an Infantry Mutze. Also the cockades look resewn , just my humble opinion.

Hi

Just a comment about the cam helmet

the camouflage painting is very well done, nice patina. The painted "Guard" badge is badly painted and was obviously added some days ago.
The liner is a model of the 30's, so late.

All in all, a good painted shell (I did not say genuine), with added parts

Eric

Concerning the Freikorps badge; I am NOT specialist, but at fist look, this badge is either a genuine one or a very very good copy

Eric

Thanks for all the help. If anyone wants to see the pics I received of the sides and back of the mutze (second link in the group of three) I will send them to you because I am having troubles uploading photos to this post.

What about this Baltic Cross?

Andrew

Andrew,

Go to Whermacht Awrads Forulm to check your cross

Rick:
You take a shell, you clean it from old paint but you do not clean all the rust. You re paint the shell, put it in your cooker and afterwards wait few months in a wet atmosphere. The dust will come again, you clean up the paint which has been cracked by this dust and you get a good old shell....

Do not do it but be aware of it!

What it everyone else's opinion on this one:

I placed a bid on it but will retract it if you think it is bad.

aging is now a specialty in refinnishing helmets. Chemicals can be added to age metal very fast , Caustic acid will rust stuff really quickly . Rust left under flashes then scubbed to bring it through newer paint also work's . Not that i amdoing this , just have been readin alot of current faking articles for WW2 helmts.
I am not sure bit that award looks , not kosher .

All I can say boys is thank God I got my 2 camo helmets years ago from reliable sources before all of this "faking" crap caught on. Mark, that helmet looks ok to me but I am worried about the black lines being so shiny in the pics. Brian
