A decent photo of the little steel plate that hung from a leather "collar" on the infantryman's chest with a big diagonal hook. The twisted wire fuze loop would cut your finger open if you tried to pull it to ignite the fuze adn then to add insult to injury a shower of sparkler-like sparks would singe your feldgrau uniform or set it on fire (sounds like a Road Runner cartoon). So the brilliant Teutonic race invented the breast plate and the diagonal hook to slip the grenade wire loop over ...pull..and presto..you could now much more conveniently rain death down on the occupants of the next trench. In the photo the breast shield hangs from the guys belt. I think I have one from a French display of captured German grenades also..lemme see.
