Grenadier Nr 7 Reserve officer

Isn’t it against regulations to have the wrong rosettes? The whole helmet matches perfectly . Rob
Yes , I just confirmed with my collector friend in Europe since 1865 cyphered rosettes on the
officers helmets of G R 7 .Here is the photo of mine .Note the pebble finish and gilt color.

Steve,

according to the regimental history of GR 7 (1897), the rosettes cyphered rosettes were introduced in February 1875. A similar cypher was introduced at the same time to be worn on the swords/sabres. The history further states that these distinctions would be worn on transfer to another unit.

Well that’s interesting, so my guard grenadier helmet probably just changed the helmet plate when he was transferred and kept the cyphers rosettes . Rob

Thanks for the correction
I was going from memory about the cyphered rosettes .I was trying to remember from the G R 7 plate that I posted
and I got the date incorrect. My point or question that I was trying to ask is that based on the dates , there should be
officers helmets to G R 7 with the old FWR Grenadier plate and the cyphered rosettes . My collector friend wrote me
that there were 3 different rosettes ; WR ; WRI ; WRII
I need to add that my friend did not supply the date of the cypher rosette , that was me that got it wrong
Thanks
Steve
