I have many knocks on my doors. Mostly postman delivering letters with urgent stamp on it to pay custom duties else no helmets. Lol

This was a huge surprise for me, because they knocked on the door of the deceased collector's home where I was buying items from this late collector. This couple who had the helmet were friends with the man who was a best friend of the deceased collector. It was a very unusual situation, and a wonderful surprise that they showed up at this home of the deceased collector while I was there buying military items. I did not have any indication that they would show up and bring the helmet to sell me. It was a total surprise.

Yes, thanks Steve, I was able to purchase it. This was a good surprise, because I did not know that this couple was going to show up at the home of the deceased collector where I was visiting in order to buy military items. This couple is good friends with the man who took me to his deceased friend's home in order to buy some of the military collection he had.

Alan, a great find, and seldom because this pattern of helmet was only worn from 1911 on in this unit.

I think I can read the first line: 4 Grenadier Reg. (to be confirmed).
And a name under this line that I am not able to decypher...

What a story, and what a beautiful ultra rare helmet, would like people to offer me one of these for sale…
( in fact I bought some EM Prussian pickels from acquaintances , but not in this shape or such rare birds…).

I met the couple because I set up a display at a flea market. I displayed some pickelhaubes in order to fish for leads to see if someone might have a helmet when they came in to visit the flea market. Sometimes I find helmets to buy when I do this. I will often times hear about a helmet from the visitors who come into the show, but I seldom am able to buy a helmet, or so it seems. Once in a while things work out.

It was October of 2023 when I met them. I made an offer on the helmet about a week after meeting them, after they sent me photos via email. I was fortunate that they have now decided to sell it to me over a year-and-a-half later since the time that I first met them.
