I am no expert but this one looks completely untouched, no extra holes and one of the leather wedges missing (for fastening helmet plate). I cannot make out the unit designation unfortunately.

It looks like they were stamped into the leather vs. Stamped in ink, take a piece of paper and lightly shade over the paper and it may reveal markings.

Unfortunately it is not untouched, because at least the chin strap is a reproduction part.

The leather strap joining the inner liner seems quiet new to me too.
But that is a detail!!

Try moving at around to see it at different angles in an indirect North light, rather than direct sunlight. i did this with one of mine and found things i had given up trying to see. it worked for me long after I had given up seriously trying!

Somehow, I missed this post
The Grenadiers are among my favorites
The holes are far apart as they should be for the front plate
the back of the plate , I see no signs that the loops have been moved
I have never understood why the rear visor has a dark coating ?
anyway it seems like a worthwhile helmet .
Maybe other members see something that I don't ?

I also missed this post somehow. I like this helmet very much….with a rare wappen and in great condition .

I can't see any marking. This helmet was greased. This action darkens the whole leather of the inside face.

It is certainly unit marked in the rear visor but still hard to make out.
