Well, the helmet arrived and it looks to be correct to my novice eye. I think maybe the box was opened in customers and closed back up looking at the tape etc. It appears one on the domed retaining studs broke while being examined or possibly the shipper broke it. The dome wasn’t in the package but the washer and “prong” were inside the helmet liner.

If this is a good helmet I’ll need a new domed stud.

Take a gander at these pics…. Give it a think and tell me what’s what….

Thanks Steve, it’s hard to say in my from my experience but it looks possible.
I need a 11mm silver retaining split stud…. I guess the typical size is 11mm. It looks to be about 11-12mm

I'm happy the split brad retainer arrived at your place! The helmet looks great now, as for cleaning, some do, and some do not.
I for one only give a helmet that's dirty a very light cleaning, leaving the patina as it is.
This took years to build up, removing it means removing it's history, but that's only my opinion.

Regards, Coert.

Would not clean it , leave it as it is . it has a great patina on it and if you would clean it , it would not feel right anymore

Preserve it don't distroy it 😁😁

Very nice congratulations! That split brad looks like it came off the rear spine rather than a spike base pin….my opinion only.

Brian, that split brad came from an EM M95 Pionier helmet I purchased from Alan, it was originally from the spike base, but needed soldering. When I purchased the helmet, Alan had replaced it with a good one, but included this one as a spare. Which had laid unused, as I already had a good one on my EM helmet. The other ones on the spikebase are identical by the way. ( On my EM helmet)

I’m not an expert but would like to see examples. This one matches the other 3 perfectly which is handy…
