I have had this one for decades….I bought it as a kid from the long gone Soldier Shop of New York City in the late 70’s. Liner was long gone even then….but it was within my price range at the time

Excellent! Any Garde markings on the rear visor ? I also have never seen those extra washers (?) on the spike base brads. Or perhaps they are integral to the support disc. There is always something new in this hobby. 😊

Thank you! No sadly, not that I can see….it is blacked…..am not sure if it was messed with or not before I got it in 78. Let me re-photo the interior for you to inspect.

Dirk, I have seen the blackened rear visors before on helmets. You may already know this but as the war progressed the Germans realized that the pre war well marked helmets gave away information to the enemy when picked upon the battlefield. The regimental stamps revealed the identity of regiments involved. I have seen ink stamps ground out and blackened out with ink.

Thank you! I was not aware of the removal or over painting to accommodate wartime security. Again thank you for the review of the helmet….I have been reading numerous posts on the site getting caught back up on the hobby and will be picking up a few new reference books. This really is a great site to reawaken my interest in the hobby!
