Gasmasks tend to give me that claustrofobic feeling again.
We used to train hard on protection against Nuclear-Chemical-Biological warfare in the 80ies and 90ies.

Agreed. Try getting fitted for one before deployment to an actual combat zone. It's like they're strapping Alien onto your face. Good enough for training isn't good enough for combat... It was really brutal. I also had to shoot my qualification for 'SAW' (Squad Automatic Weapon) in a mask, hood and garments. It would have been fine had it not been 110F and very, very humid sunny in lovely Arkansas (southern US). Damned near died.
