Hard to find Bavarian M1878 Schwere Reiter Officer helmet

Just got this one in, a very nice M1878 Schwere Reiter Bavarian helmet. A hard to find variation, similar to Gendarme and also some Raupenhelm traits.

Has a very unique spike variation and older Kokarden on side. Domed studs holding on spike base which is correct for officers on this type of helmet.

I have not cleaned at all yet, just received in mail.

Yes, a rare helmet, congratulations James!

As you mentioned to me on the phone when I was asking about the helmet at the Chicago show that came in, many of these were unfortunately converted into Bavarian Police helmets later, when they changed out the "L" cypher front plates on them. It's great to see one in original configuration!

Congratulations on finding an untouched helmet that is in the neighborhood of 140 plus years old. I
