Bavarian??

Hi.
It's a Raupenhelm--literally a caterpillar helmet.
The Bavarians were a stiff-necked lot and the regular Bavarian infantry didn't adopt the Prussian-inspired spiked helmet until late in the 1800s.
Unusual, isn't it?
There's one on Kaisersbunker, too.
Regards,
Brad

Hello,

The first Pickelhaube for Bayern Infanterie was model 1886, but some where worn in 1848 (Landwehr Infanterie), 1864 ( Gendarmerie).
