Having trouble identifying exactly what this is.

My advice is to simply offer it for sale here on the forum in our "Pickelhaube and Parts For Sale". We do not charge for this and there will be members here that have the correct parts to make it right. Any auction house or Ebay etc will charge you exorbitant fees for selling it. So just repost your photos in that section. The maker: AWES was a premium brand in this era! IT WILL SELL HERE!! :) As to value, a complete, very good condition Prussian officer helmet sells $1,000 - $1,200, yours is not complete but it is from the one and only Baden Pioneer Battalion, which makes it rare.

I agree with Bryan IMO there is a butt for every seat, and I think someone would definitely buy it put a little love into it and either cherish it or flip it

ok so double post on this one, Bavarian Reserve officer, tough shape. To me the parts are the value...

I agree with James...the shell is "kaput" because of the cut in the side. This is a real shame in that, otherwise all the damage could be repaired. I have a collector friend who may be interested and have asked him to have a look.

If I had a nice donor shell of the same size I would jump on it, that would be my kind of restoration project. ;)

und sie kommt auch aus Bayern (y)

Somebody like Brian or our Polish experts would figure out a way to put a piece of leather in that slot and fix it and you would never know.....

Hello ,
In France, to make more than 1000€, a Prussian officer's helmet, must be mint. A PB14 officer's helmet can fetch 1500€ provided it is mint.
A Baden PB14 officer's helmet is in very average condition, the stars and roundels don't fit: 600-800€.
The Bavarian Chevauleger Reserve officer is also in very average condition, missing a star , but with a nasty cut in the shell. 600-700€.
Even repaired, these helmets will never be mint.
