Hel-Met the Kaiser picklehaube pin

Several years ago this forum was a big help to us and I thought that I would share something that I just purchased. It is a small (about the size of a silver dollar) picklehaube pin. Also attached is an ad from 1918 for the pin and an article from 1917 talking about how the pin was met in one community of Illinois. Hope you enjoy.View attachment 1
 
Well that was very interesting and the kind of thing I like to collect. I don't know that I had seen this before. Really quite a bit of history there.

A different day and age. I would only guess that the image of the helmet was so easily identified with the Germans and you needed to get close to see the print that it was just misunderstood or misinterpreted.
