Dear Community,
the next M/60 helmet collected on the battlefield at „Königgrätz“ is to be presented here.
It is a helmet of the „Prussian line Pioneer battalions“ (Königlich Preußische Linien-Pionierbataillone) , recognizable by the white fittings (Beschläge) including the heraldic eagle with the letters „F.R.“ as well as the white Rosette for attaching the yellow scale chains (Schuppenketten).
The Pioneer battalions No. 2, 4, 6 and 8, to which the helmet belongs, took part in the Battle of Königgrätz. The pioneer battalions 9 - 11 were only established in 1867!
The front visor is marked with the well-known manufacturer „Wilhelm Jäger“!
I show the photos before and after cleaning. The dimensions for Sandy will follow a little later!
I hope, you like this piece of contemporary history….
Best regards
Frank
