Help identifying a feldmutze cockade please

Hi all,

I recently inherited a group of WW1 medals and souvenirs from my grandfather in New Zealand. Among all his bits and pieces was this little beauty.

I *think* it's a state cockade from a feldmütze. Overall diameter is 20mm.

The red paint is still mostly intact on the inner ring. The paint on the outer ring is almost all worn away, definitely gone from the high points but in the valleys it looks like it might have originally been white or grey.

The centre cross means it is a Reservist cockade - is that correct?

Is anyone out there able to 100% definitely identify this? It’s been sitting in a drawer in New Zealand for 95 years, and I’d love to know how my grandfather came to bring this home!

Thanks, Bungo

Hello Bungo,
Looks to me like a BADEN RESERVE State cockade for Enlisted Soldiers/Other Ranks.
