help in identifying a knife

I am a new member who collects swords and knives. I recently aquired a knife than appears to have come from the German - Austria area. It is a large knife measuring about 16 inches in length. It appears to have been made from a cut down bayonet. But it is good quality workmanship. It has a name and a mark on it. The name is Edmund v Wallerstain u Marnegg. The mark is unknown to me. Have any of you seen it or know what it stands for. It shows in the attached pictures.
Thank you
Howard

Looks very much like a family crest.
I'll try to research it, but still in the middle of relocation and don't know where my books are.
