on the Ranklist? Please? It would be really appreciated!

RABE v. PAPPENHEIM, Gottfried Karl Alfred GM 1842- 1905
RABE v. PAPPENHEIM, Walter GM 1862- 1941
RABE, Oskar von GdK 1844- 1925
RABE, Rudolf von GL 1844- 1931

The reason I am asking is I have a Koller attributed to one of the above Rabe's who was supposedly a Colonel in th 3rd Kurrasier Regiment.

Trying to find out which one it was as well as his awards.

Thanks in advance.

John

John,

Oberstleutnant/Oberst Oskar von Rabe (22.11.1844-8.9.1925) commanded Kürassier-Regiment Graf Wrangel (Ostpreußisches) Nr. 3 from 24.3.1890 - 13.5.1895 when he assumed command of the 35. Kavallerie-Brigade. Von Rabe rose to command the 22. Division and retired on the 20.1.1903. He would however have continued to wear this regimental uniform even as a retired General der Kavallerie as he was honoured with the permission to wear the regiment's uniform on 2.5. 13.

Regards
Glenn

Glenn thank you kindly!

If this was a 1913 piece would he have been wearing the Colonels Banjo Boards? I would have assumed he would be wearing his Generals boards.

How does one go about getting his awards bio?

Thank you again Glenn!

John

Ah...almost forgot...here it is...

John,

if it is the 1913 piece he should be wearing Generals' epaulettes. His awards were numerous even a colonel in 1895 which are the ones I think you need. I'll post the list this evening.

Glenn

I happen to own a Garde Train Pickelhaube named to Einjahrige Freiwilliger Rabe. Maybe they were related... most likely it is just a coincidence. Is Rabe a common name in Germany?
Bruno

Bruno,

I don't think Rabe is a uncommon name. It's not a Smith but I would not say it's unique.

Since this was von Rabe I am not sure there is a connection to your Rabe. Perhaps but we would have to check the Ranklists for your Rabe.
