I have a Stahlblech, complete except for the Wappen. There are no visible marks inside the helmet. It has darkened 95 pattern spike and chin strap posts, which I believe are original to the helmet. Liner is original, with felt band etc. My problem is working out which wappen was fitted.
Center to center on the slots, is 6.5 c.m. Prussian line eagles dont fit, non of my Saxon, Bavarian Hessian or Baden Wappen fit. Im thinking it may be Wurttenburg. Does someone on the forum have a measurement for a wurttenburg wappen, or any idea what other wappen may be correct for this spacing? The only Wappen that fits the spacing is a private purchase wappen from my Wurttenburg officer helmet. Not sure if it being private purchase makes any difference on the spacing, though it dosn`t seem to on other p/purchase plates I have.
Any help will be much appreciated as Ive had this helmet for about 3 years and think its about time to get it out on display. Its complete and in reasonable condition other than the missing wappen and cockardes.
