Hessen Arty Regt 61 Uberzug

I have had this officer style uberzug from Hessen Field Artillery Regt No 61 for many years. I believe it to be unique. I have never seen another like it. Obviously, this is reversable with the war red gaming red band on one side. What is different of course are the white cloth tapes with hooks on the ends. As shown, there are thread lops on both sides of the uberzug to hook these tapes on to. My guess is that perhaps these may have been used to indicate referee status for the wearer. The cover has the usual DRP stamping and 3 very faint triangle shaped ink stamps on the red band. Comments? Brian

Hi Brian,
Referee ID would be a good guess, but could it be to designate the wearer's status, i.e. gunner, or batterie leader? I am totally ignorant of the cahin of command of a batterie of guns, but I would guess taht it has not changed much over the past several hundred years.

Thanks James. Gus your guess is as good as mine. It would be cool if even some other collector has one of these. Brian
