As a side note, there should be absolutely no tariff on any historical object shipped into Canada from the U.S., unless Canada decided to change this. There would be no reason for it. That's not what the current tariff war is about, and it doesn't include anything whatsoever to do with historical objects being imported into Canada, or vice-a-versa into the USA from Canada. Zero tariff.

Thanks. The problem is the CBSA (Canadian border crew) aren't always up to speed on what a historical item is. I use a Kinek mailbox near the border but now due to uncertainty I am nervous about using it. And now of course there are stories about the US border agents going through cell phones, laptops etc so add that for border crossings. It's a real shame. I hope the people's revolt in the US happens soon. Goodbye Czar. (without any violence of course).

As long as the sales receipt and commercial invoice declares the items as 100 years old (and the item looks the part) CBSA will not charge tariffs, only the GST (and for you unfortunate people living outside of Alberta, the PST / HST). If they do happen to charge duty you can always appeal it as well.

dear pickel community, despite the international situation regarding tarifs and customs I did receive the beautiful Hessen Pickelhaube,
It was discussed here before, see threat above,
customs in Holland only charged 30 euro's so that did not hurt...
it is beautiful
alan purchased it from the family of a veteran, and it had its reinforcement plate under the spike base as was shown clearly in his Photo's , (as was often the case with take apart pickles shipped to the states shortly after the war.

I did put the reinforcement plate in the correct place
It has beautiful markings TB
Train Battalion 25, Train Battalion 18, and JR 116
and of course no double holes,

I like it very much especially because the IR 116 fought very hard on 22 august 1914 nearby our holliday home in the battle of maissin, where I visit the " cimetière franco allemand" very often,
Now I have a French kepi and a Pickelhaube that most probably really were there 110 years ago , real relict to me!

so Alan, many thanks, very happy with this new addition to my collection, as before it was a pleasure dealing with you.

(the region was also the theatre of the 1870 war with Sedan in France only about 40 km south..., I also picked a Prussian guard Tschapka of that war that I will show shortly.

That is so cool that IR 116 fought near your holiday home which is near the battle of Maisson. It is great to see that you have a French Kepi that probably was there at that battle, along with this Hessen helmet! That is amazing!
