Dear fellow collectors,

What do you think of this Hessian? I’ve been looking for it a long time. The seller has one for sale and sold another one some days ago.

Thank you very much!

Best wishes,

GardeUlan

Hard to tell from what we see
I would want to see the front plate removed to see the backside
the price is IMO , too good to be true ?
the helmet is worth more than that
It is also hard to find , he offers 2 in a row ?
What do you think ?
I paid a lot more than that for the one that I have
In my 55 years of collecting , I have owned 2 of them
the photo with the black bush was my first one
I told it circa 1992 for about $5,000 ?
Which was a mistake
the one that I have now cost me more

You are absolutely right. It’s two good to be true. Two of these ultra rare helmets in such a short period from the same seller.

Best wishes,

GardeUlan

The shells are not in the best of condition, the money is in the plates I guess, if the plates are good then chances are the rest is. But the leathers do look like they have been repaired, you would need a look under the silk. Rob

Not long ago in Soissons in France, there was the same one, very beautiful, known to French collectors. It ended the auction without fees at 5000 euros.

Not surprisingly.
A highly sought-after Hessian helmet.
A highly prized Hessian officer's helmet.
A highly prized Hessian artillery officer's helmet.
A FAR25 officer's helmet, with the star of the Order of Louis, and with swords, from wartime! Even more prized !

Why do you think that was ?
The helmet was not trusted
or
the collectors felt that the starting price was too high ?
