Hessian I R 117

Here is my Hessian I R 117 with the "V M " cypher .After the divorce , the " V M " cypher was relaced with the " A " cypher. Steve McFarland

-Namenszug/cypher "VM"-as of 4th September 1897; for Großherzogin Victoria Melita. Divorced Großherzog Ernst Ludwig in 1901.
-Namenszug/cypher. "A" -as of 15th February 1902; for the late Großherzogin Alice [died December 1878] [Ernst Ludwig's mother].

Very interesting. The monogram of Großherzogin Alice is not on the Hessian shoulder strap, but on the Prussian one. I've never seen anything like it.

Yes , I agree , however when I found them to be IMO not put together
but 100 % real but against the rules .I had a discussion with another member
who has seen the same thing and he posted a photo of another I R 117
on a Prussian strap

Thanks Steve. I have the officer's helmet ,tunic( interesting blue sleeve cuff) and dress sash for the regiment. But fake placeholder Hessian officer shoulder boards with blue backings that really need replacing.
