Hessian Infantry Officer's Saber

This is neat mix between a lionhead and the traditional Hessian sword with the wide floral-patterned guard. The guard has the Hessian coat of arms on it, mixed into the floral pattern. With the correct Hessian officer's portepee.

A neat Hessian sword. Shown in the circa 1905 W K & C catalog as a Hessian Infantry Officer sword. Shown in later WKC catalogs in this form with an added crossed hammer motif as a Miner sword (Bergbaubeamte) sword. So, WKC re-designed this style into a Mining Official sword after WWI. "Parts is parts" as they say in the sword assembly business.

Scarce Portepee as well. Congratulations!
