Persistence pays dividends. It's gratifying to be able to bring one of these incomplete helmets back to the way it would have looked when it was in use. Good job.Took many years to complete this thing. Unmarked and a little rough, but not complaining...

Thanks, it’s a good feeling. I have a few others I’ve been working on that I am going to post in the next few weeks. There is a large amount of satisfaction for a collector, when you buy a helmet which is missing some pieces and over time you manage to find these and complete it. This is especially true when dealing with a rare helmet such as this Hessen M15. Congratulations Gabe.
I know my friend, it is quite common to find them with a Prussian spike, also with a round base.
but being a bit old-fashioned, I would like to find a fluted spike for my Hessen M15.
But they are very hard to find, the last one I saw for sale went for over 600$ on Ebay, some 3 or 2 years ago..
Only the spike alone..
Good advice ! don't think; what is it worth, think what's it worth to you .Very nice helmets! If you see a Hessian spike buy it! Rob
