Hi

I'd like to get your opinion on this helmet. I am not sure that the maker's mark is Hessian?????

Regimental (volontarily) erased... no comment

And this curious Maker's stamp:

Alexander Dehn (or Dehr?) Barmen

Helz (or Halz?)...

Eric, Looks like Alexander Dahl Helmfabrik --Barmen, Ritterhausen. Does it matter if it is not Hessen? I have Bavarian and Saxon hemets made in Berlin. This seems to indicate that German Empire kingdoms, Grand Duchies, Duchies, free cities would shop for the best contract with all manufacturers. Although certainly some must have been some guidelines, like supporting local manufactures. That is a beautiful helmet.

Hi Tony

So according to you (and helped with these additional pictures below), this helmet would be genuine (even it is very difficult trough pictures only?

I am not very specialist with Hessian...

Thank you in advance

Absolutely! It seems as though there were favorite suppliers but none seem to be exclusive and all states seem to have traveled wide to ink contracts.

Eric, One of the nice things about a Hessen, is if the stitching is all original, it really can't be anything else. A Bavarian cruciform spike base will not match the holes on a Hessen, as the front 'arm' on the Bavarian is shorter. The rounded front visor is unique to Hessen with the cruciform spike base. And the rear spine is specific to Hessen as well, as the M1895 air vent is very low, to accommodate the spike base. To me, this looks like a very nice helmet. I think the scratched out unit marking has nothing to do with trying to hide something.
