It's a well known copy of the 70's as the seller says in his description.
The giveaways are:
- leather trim on front visor never existed in this form and colour
- date of 1918 (steel helmets were introduced in 1916...)
- shape would not be good
- used materials
- chinstrap is clearly a fake
As a matter of facts, the whole thing was made to deceive and earn money on people who don't know their stuff... This means once again that good reference books and all the info you can get here will make you able to detect fake helmets and keep your money in your pocket to buy real helmets...

Adler more then nailed it, a lot of these fakes both Tschapka's and Felt haubes came out of the UK in the 70's, and now they themselves are around 40 years old and fooling a lot of people. They also faked a lot of metal Tschapkas around the same time frame.

I have the makers name of some of these somewhere and will have to dig it out.

The leather trim is the biggest giveaway.
