The 5th used dark red. I really wish you could see more in this picture to give a better opinion.
Since the piece time uniforms were introduced in 1915 as a personal taste, I would hope to see the M15 flat silver should boards that were also recently introduced for officers.
That's not to say that this example is wrong assuming that it the older shiny board, that could have been the officer's personal choice no problem it's just hard to tell from the photo.
I can't even see the 5, but the dark red certainly fits and gives me hope and is a solid starting point.

Steve, I think I'm missing something do you think the underside of your board marked to the 5th is dark red? I hate to think that is not pink. 
The 5th did use dark red right? Like the color of the beautiful Attila shown in post twenty and the visor shown in post 18? as well as the boards on the peace time Attila we are discussing.
I'm really confused with that backing color on your board did the 5th use a special pink backing. Help please

I can only imagine this color comparison. Otherwise I would have to dismantle the figures. The cords are very fine and shiny. Almost like silk. There was never a number 5 on the shoulder boards, no mark or hole.

No regimental number was worn with the colored uniform. The number on the shoulder boards only came with the field gray uniform.

Maybe he got one wrong in over 2000 that's still a great percentage or maybe just the tag just got switched along the ride.
I thought my eyes were getting worse and I was just at the eye doctors on Thursday and still no glasses just cheaters for close up not bad for an old sack

Trying to think it out .What units could the strap be ? K R 5 is a pinkish color . A couple of Dragoon regiments , but they would have numbers ?
Here is my K R 5 officer
I agree the H R 5 color of my strap seems to be off

One last thought about the shoulder straps for H R 5
Since it is a Feldgrau piece time uniform
I just remembered that the straps for these uniforms were wider than the pre war straps

Colleagues, as I see it, the officers' dress uniforms were a different color. So dear Steve showed us probably the right shoulder strap. It remains to be understood why the attila straps of 1915 on my photo at the first post has the same color as the non-commissioned officer. Maybe this is not a shoulder strap from Attila, or even an incorrect shoulder strap ...?

Yes , I think so .H R officers straps for M1915 are IMO not easy to find.
I have a pair of M1915 for 2 L H R 2 and the underlay is black.
Not many examples to go by.

Thus, on the shoulder straps of the feldgrau uniform, the officer's shoulder straps should also have a crimson-colored underlay. Why the Attila I presented has shoulder straps of a different color, I don’t know.
