Hussaren Busby Question

Gents,

Looking for some help here. I know nothing about these but have been wanting one for a while. I always planned on studying them to learn what to look for before I purchase one, but....then this popped up for sale on another forum.

As such, I'm asking for some advice/feedback. Anything good here. I'm just looking for basic example but one that is in very good condition.

Price is under Euro 2k.

Thanks in advance.

Sorry to say: very poor photographs quality....
...Only the "marshmallow" Feldzeichen is shown a bit better...
And the Vaterlandbandeau?
And the large stamps... from a Theatre?

Erich Bergmann???

Thanks Steve.

Any help from the forum would be appreciated. Just looking for a clean honest complete example.

I don't see a problem
But I yield to Francis
He knows about the insides
and direction of the fur
The parts sure look real
Even if it was used by the theater
I think that sometimes they had the real thing
I got items out of Calif years ago that movie Co stamps in them
but they were for sure the real thing
Steve

Thanks again.

Pardon my potential faux pas...Is Khukri Francis? I'm still a newbie and learning everyone's name.

I have zero issues on theater used /marked items. I've seen many great items sourced from them.

All I'm hoping to get is a clear yes or no go and if the price is fair from the guys here.

Really appreciate everyones help since I've joined

Yes to your question
Why don't you PM him
He might add his thoughts there
I bought an e m M1915 awhile back
I don't remember the price
I will have to look it up
Years ago I saw them offered all the time
not so much anymore
Steve

Thanks Steve. Will do... Sunday. Enjoying my Friday cigar and scotch at the lounge tonight then 10 hours tomorrow to pick my son up at college.

It looks OK to me as well from a construction, parts level, but I have little interest in Peltzmutzen so I don't follow the market price wise.

As for theatre stamps I'd have no issue with that. If you're the Props Dept. guy and you needed a busby for a play circa 1920's, 30"s I'm sure you could get the real thing pretty cheaply. No need to spend time and effort trying to cobble something together.

Michael:

You sound like a kindred spirit. There's nothing quite like having a cigar and a single malt while sitting in the gazebo at the lake shore watching the sun set on the lake.

The fur is in incredible condition compared to the chinstrap and cockades. Its been up for a long time and the price isnt that crazy, which makes me wonder why it has not sold. Just my thoughts. Rob

[Book: 'Les hussards allemands et leurs colbacks'] page 6.
*On the direction the furs were attached...
-At first the furs were attached to the frame vertically, hair pointing downward. Naturally brown sealfur.
-As of 1858 the black dyed sealfurs are attached horizontally.
When you face a sealfur Pelzmütze:
...The direction of the hair will point counterclockwise..

No question IMO the kolpack is far too long .

I was lucky to be able to buy my example not too long ago.
It came out of a very old Calif. collection that dates back to the 1950's
Years ago, when I first started to collect I had a M1915, but I sold it .
It took me many years to find a replacement
Here are some photos of my example
The fur can be in excellent condition if it has been cared for
My fur is in excellent condition
One photo of the inside is NOT the M1915, but I posted it to show the inside
It is an earlier model
I will look up what I paid for it and let you know
