As a biologist I respectfully disagree because the offspring of mixed species is often less fertile, if fertile at all :D However, this helmet is a complete joke and its quite sad that people are bidding on it ](*,)

Edwin as you know species cannot be mixed because interbreeding is not possible. This has been the basic definition of species. There are exceptions though, like the mule, resulting from the union between a horse and a donkey, but you are correct, these are sterile. No, I was referring to the mixing of strains, like two different breeds of dogs. Outbred is often stronger than inbred.
How the hell do Pickelhaubes bring us to discuss about genetics??.. This is funny. Somebody should write about the very unexpected digressions encountered on this forum! I like it.

Personally, I think someone just picked up an excellent JzP 8 shell at $200 above max I would pay for a shell if I had the remaining pieces. No doubt a complete helmet would go for substantially more money.
