I love this one. The Wappen is the proper type. The chinscales are proper. Overall I am very tempted.
HOWEVER; I am familiar with this dealer and I do not trust him at all.
Also, the helmet looks like chrome, not nickel and the Wappen does not look like a crisp stamping, may be a galvano copy.
If it stays at $35.00 there is no question but it will probably be $2000.00 tomorrow.
What do you think?

Had one back in the seventies, but it appears to be a copy (yes, even then)...
Sold to me by M. Fisher... :x
One month pay down the drain...
So I am rather careful now. And would leave this one where it is too.

I saw the helmet on Spandau site last month and paid for it after Andy guarantee that it was original. He delayed the shipping and then refunded me the money as he mentioned that it is a copy. I was happy with his honesty.

He then emailed me yesterday informing me that he is putting it on ebay as his 2 other friends reckon that it is a late war private purchase making it original.

Given the doubts, I would avoid it.

I know that real ones are expensive, and I am watching this one climb in price. I am unwilling to take a chance on this dealer. He has had many well done fakes in the past. The trifoils for the chinscales appear to be cheap cast fakes and the rounded edges on the chinscales look to be out of proportion. I am not sure that the helmet shell is original either. I noticed the photo of the chip in the nickel plating. I have never seen nickel plating chip like that, chrome yes, but nickel --- no.

Andy has g been pretty good to me with all my purchases. Maybe I am a woman and he is kinder lol. Once I received a ww1 helmet with a fake liner, he promptly replied that he will accept the returns or give me a partial credit via PayPal. So far, I have no problem with him. I was super impressed when he refunded me the money for that ebay lst lieb kurassier informing me that it is a fake in his first opinion.
