I R 173 Kaiser Prize

I just bought a group of 5 photos of the same soldier from I R 173.
The regiment was raised in 1897 St. Avold XVI A K
One of the few regiments that had white cuffs on their Waffenrock.
In 1900 I R 173 / 1.KP won the Kaiser Prize
In the group photo of 4 soldiers
It looks like the soldier on the left is the Fahnentrager ?
He has a patch above his Kaiser Prize
but I can't make it out ?

I would say you are correct, it does look like a fahnenträger patch above the Kaiser prize.
