Hi Lyndon,
Most modern fibres will fluoresce under black light, If you have ever gon into a bar or dance hall that had a black light wearing a white t shirt, you will know what I am talking about. I would not worry about a few stiches showing under black light on such an item, there are often repairs made by collectors to stop sewing from further unraveling. Otto is right about the photos, it always worries me when some one is selling a high ticket item and posts a large number of poor quality photos, this seller has been on ebay for a long time, but has not done much trade, I suspect that he/she is just not up to speed on marketing, with that in mind, I would be inclined to suspect that the helmet is OK, I can not tell if the chin strap is original in such a poor photo, and like Otto, I am not real keen on the painting of the helmet, but that being said, I do think the helmet is OK. I doubt you can get additional photos from this seller (usually a bad sign) because it apears as though he does not use an electronic camera. All in all, this could prove to be a good buy if you are willing to take a bit of risk.
Best wishes
Gus

Hi Lyndon,
1K is not a good buy in my opinion, I do not care if it is US$ NZ$ AU$ or that pretty stuff that Brian uses. I can not see the camos being woorth much over $500 with liner and chin strap, but then I could be behind the power curve on this. Where you are coming to the US to pick up this stuff, you do not have the worry about shipping (not as much anyway) but shipping is another thing that needs to be figured into the cost. I just picked up a nice M1915 Pickelhaube for $550 US and I would rather have an M15 than a camo Stahlhelm, but that is just me talking. Prices are just getting freakier every day. I guess the real question is, How much are you willing to give up to put one of these in your collection. If you get one that is honest and original, I doubt that you will not be able to recover your investment in a year or so, this is a seller's market.

The Eisenbahn M15 went for $1100. The formerly bottom end has raised cost. The top end has gone up geoetrically but the middle seems steady and I don't think such a seller's market. It is nuts though and guys walking around with $10,000 cash at SOS blows you away.

Lyndon - I love this subterfuge but you're not kidding anyone but yourself here, mate. "The Wife" will guess or find out anyway, they always do, you poor fool. So get a grip and stop fannying around.:angry7:

Spikey Mickey, dont know what fanning around is but, ive been married for 23 years, i have a fixation with motor bikes and guns, and its worked up to this date. so im still doing it, maybe she knows but my guess is she does the same, and i dont know. anyway i dont have to holiday with her so i reakon its a good thing. do you really think that my wife will think that i paid a grand [ aud ] for a stupid helmet. i think im safe when i say i paid 100 bucks for it. I HOPE ???????????????
still i like your reply. got a helmet for sale, now that would be really hepfull. Thanks Lyndon

Hi Lyndon,
Maybe you 'll get away with an M16 after all. They dont look pretty crappy anyhow, so.........I defer to your 23 years mate! I reckon your guessing is good about her doing the same thing too.

All I got to sell is the Wurttemburg OYV, a Prussian M95 EM and a Bavarian M95 EM private purchase. You're after a Prussian Officer job right? I dont collect M16's so I dont have one of those, sorry.

Hi Lyndon,
Never have doubts regarding to the capacity of the women's perception, they are dangerous :-? . We thought that they are not noticing a certain thing, and when fewer waited :violent1: ...crash...we received a beating in the head.
Regarding your collections, she must have thought...One is little, two are good, but three are too much...
Good luck,
Otto :D

Be careful Lyndon ,at least give her a figure$ thhat sounds normal .I have had alot of collecting friends that are now sincle or dating because they got divorced . I hope that never helps to you . If it does everything cost's $75-$100 .
Mark

Hey Lyndon,
I dont know if this is any good - ebay 6610639112?
The crown has sunk slightly, but this can be remedied, and the liner is a bit worse for wear but apart from that I s'pose its not so bad going on these pictures. I dont know what your budget is and what condition you would find acceptable? I think the liner is too tatty but........what do you think? Field Artillery is harder to find than Line Infantry Prussian.

Well spotted Joe, a damaged plate. Not so good. As for the need for a spike, I think that you will find in time, an equally strong desire for a Kugel (I was gonna say 'ball' but I know you Aussies). It's a matter of sophistication.
