Genuine issue early 1914 German officers helmet. Overall condition is very good - though silk liners showing it’s age.
It has been kept since grandfather brought it home in 1918.

Welcome to the Forum Boshuter.
I hope you don‘t feel offended, but unfortunately your helmet is not in a very good condition. Please take a closer look at it again:
  • The lacquer is cracked
  • The heraldic eagle is missing the cross on the orb
  • The leather of the chinscales is heavily torn and worn on the sides. Some scales seems to be loose
  • The fabric of the linker is missing and the sweatband is torn
  • The nuts and washers of the spikebase seems to be not original
I certainly don't want to talk down on your helmet, it still has some value. But there are many helmets that are really in „very good“ and also in „mint“ condition, even after more than 100 years. For this reason, I would describe the helmet as well as possible when selling, but leave the condition assessment to the prospective buyer. So you don’t risk to get problems with a buyer later. At the prices you must expect that buyers are critical of the quality.

Condition is everything in this collector market. Another factor is rarity…the Prussian infantry officer helmet is the most common of all officer helmets, as the Prussians provided the greatest number of regiments in the Imperial Army. Consequently, a common helmet with problems such as this will not reach your asking price. Your price equates to approximately $1,900 CN. I just bought a complete Prussian officer helmet in excellent condition for $1,000 CN at auction.

Thank you for the observation and I will have to look into it and negotiate with buyer then if not acceptable, probably I will just wait until anyone accept with current condition and reduce the price as well

You got yours for a good price, I will have to review my own price and see if anyone comes through due to the condition we could work on negotiating

Glad to provide a bit of information. The market in the UK may be different than here in N. America of course.
