"Imperial" schirmmutze

I have been learning a lot about schirmmutze, about the good, the bad and the ugly. I wanted to post this auction link because it is a very interesting one. What looks like a beautiful officers Gardes du Corps schirmmutze really isn't! It looks like a Imperial cap but if you look inside at the liner it is a Third Reich production or maybe even later! Just thought I would share with you guys. :D

To my eye, it looks nothing like an Imperial Schirmmütze. The long visor, the high top, low rear, exaggerated saddle shape etc. I'll bet that is not even a veteran's cap, I would bet it is a Police visor cap of some sort from the 50s.

You are totally right. At first glance, just looking at the color combination and officers kokardes it looked like a nice Gardes du Corps officers schirmmutze. I was at work also, so my haube hunting has got to be quick and kept to a minimum. Yes, the peak is way too tall, more like the III Reich style and the visor is too long but isn't the saddle shape found sometimes(very rarely) on shirmmutze during Imperial times?

With help from all you and studying all this, I am just seeing things differently, I am noticing the red flags. Its as if I have the eyeball hardware and software of the terminator! :-x
