Incredibly young boys in the Landsturm in 1918???

Something does not add up here. It seems as though these guys are from Neunkirchen.... somewhat near Saarbrücken but no cigar. Also this is 1918. Look how young they are. Perhaps the youngest picture I have seen. And they went into the Landsturm???

Certainly a unique photo for a couple of reasons, not least being the age of some of the 'men' present, although the author looks about the right age. Class of 1920?

It looks like they're wearing chest covers similar to the ones mentioned in Kraus' book, designed to protect the tunic from wear and tear during drill.

And what's a Bachschule?
