Indian Made Italian Helmet!

This is a recent pick up. This helmet is likely an Italian military helmet, and numerous sources suggest that the Italians used "British made helmets" from the 1890s to the 1920s. This helmet could be proof that these helmets could have come from India.

The shape, the vents and the number of panels are similar to the patterns used by Italy in East Africa and later in Libya.

What is interesting is that there is no silk or other cloth inside the helmet. You can actually see the exposes pith -- as in pith helmet. The top ventilator is also only for visual style, again suggesting an Indian made helmet. The label is strangely written in English and French, but makes no sense in either language. So surely this was meant for foreign sales.

You can also see that layers of newspaper were used between the layers of pith, and the words I can make out are in English as well.
