Obviously the cheesey brown strap has got to go. However, something I have never seen before.... vulcan fibre being used for the scale staple strip! The use of brass staples is also not common as the vast majority are simple steel staples. Unfortunately the vulcan piece in the upper photo has been broken over time. I checked with Randy T from AofK and he confirmed that he had seen this before during his many decades of collecting.
