Dear fellow collectors,
I have recently been forced by the Bavarian capital archive to scan some of its contents for me. It seems this has led to the contents of many files being completely digitized (or I didn't notice these scans before and spent much money for nothing
). However, now everyone can access these files of the Bavarian Ministry of War about uniforms online.
As much of it was written in old German handwriting it’s hard o read and may be not everyone can read it, but there are also many documents that were written on typewriters. In any case, it is a real treasure for anyone interested in the history and evolution of the Pickelhaube. For example, I have found the original offers and orders for helmets submitted to various manufacturers, very interesting information about „Ersatzhelme“, contents of Bavarian clothing regulations from 1886 and 1916, and so on.
Just click on the following link and choose the file that interests you and then click on "Images". This will open a DFG viewer with the digitized files:
Have fun
