A simple photo of pre war painted artillery regimental markings. These are present in a shell that I am restoring:

So, Fuss (Foot) Artillery Regt. 9 accepted into stores in 1897 issued to 2nd batterie.
Reissued to the 5th Batterie in 1903...condition IV? Fs 9....Schleswig Holstein Regt 9 estab. 1893 VIII A. K. Base: Ehrenbreitstein. At present the helme is missing it's rear visor, front trim and kugel. However, even in this condition these markings plus a complete liner persuade me to work on it and try and find these missing fittings. :)

Fascinating I just bought the FAR3 off the bay. Should help me understand the markings. Rob
If you need any help understanding the markings, just post some pictures of them here on the forum.
Lot's of members are willing to help you out with them.

Regards, Coert.

Beautiful markings! 👍
This white paint in the shell is very special to the units of the IX AK (JR84,85,FR86, JR162, 163, and so on....) or even to those Schleswig-Holstein tradition units in other army corps (in this case, very first garrison of Sonderburg, 1866, today Denmark).
