Interesting "saxon" helmet

I spotted this one on ebay and wanted to see what everyone thought, it looks like the wappen has been there a while although I do not know what its actually meant to signify and the cockade looks like an earlier baden state cockade.

Almost looks like a musical symbol in the middle of the star. Below is a Bundeswehr one.

I purchased this helmet on eBay. All of the brass fittings had been coated with non -original clear lacquer, some applied over green verdegri. I removed all fittings and stripped the coating with acetone. Then I cleaned and buffed all fittings. I don’t especially like shiny new brass, but it was necessary. The most time consuming parts were the chin scales. I probably spent a couple hours on them alone. I still need to sew in the fabric head liner, but the leather sweat band is in fine pliable condition, which is good and will make sewing easy. I was tempted to replace the wappen with a normal Saxon military one, but I suspect this original wappen is uncommon, and so it remains. This is the first “musicians” wappen I have seen. Does anyone out there have anything similar for any province, or possibly an original photo?
