This regiment took part to the capture of fort Douaumont on February 25 1916

Wonderful memorial! Too many times in America we have let Stone monuments decay. Seems like people are always running to save some stone. I would hope this monument gets the care it needs before it reaches that point.
 
I agree with joe this monument should get a little more attention, does anybody know if the people who take care of german cemetaries would refinnish monuments , like this? It being a regimetal monumetn and probably erected war time I would wonder .

This monument is located near Azannes a little village 8km from fort Douaumont.
Every year a group of german people come here to restore it.

I can not read geerman , but from pics heu started to refurbish the battlefield cemetary that was there. That is nice to see.
