Is there a coppery hue along the maxilla?

Again. Who cares? Far too much of this forum is you playing ebay police. Do you even collect pickelhaubes?

Hmmm... why should I care? Maybe to help some other people and prevent them from purchasing this junk from some fraudulous crooks who try to get our money in their pockets?
Maybe collecting pickelhauben is a verry difficult thing and maybe we can use all help available?
Maybe new or young collectors can learn something from this and keep our hobby alive in the future?
Are we really playing ebay police by protecting ourselves or are we trying to get rid of fraudulous sellers?
Do I even collect pickelhauben or am I just throwing money away? Did I waist 40 years of my life by purchasing original helmets?
Hmmm... Those are serious questions...
On the other hand I can understand you; it gets sometimes very frustrating seeing all those repros and fakes they try to sell us.

Adler, totally agree! there are all kinds of collectors on this forum, and all levels of knowledge. I have ben collecting in the 30 year plus category, feel I have a pretty good understanding of the hobby, yet continue to learn all the time, and still make mistakes.

I just do not get why someone posting on a EBAY section of the forum, about Ebay helmets gets you upset.....

Again, just do not read this part of the forum then.

Fair enough. I assumed that this section was for valid questions about helmets, not pointing out EVERY SINGLE fake. It is endless.

Apologies. I'll stay out of this section.

I don't really think you could label this helmet a fake from the pics provided. The first pattern skulls are rarely reproduced; this one needs an in-hand inspection to be sure...

In my opinion, any seller of a helmet from this widely reproduced regiment should post pics of the wappen taken off of the helmet, close up front and back. To me that is a red flag. I also do not like the definition of this skull.......it looks chromed to me, all rounded edges. Compare this to a real one on the Kaisers Bunker....one that I have handled.

Maxilla? Hey! Watch your language! Next think you know, you'll be talking about one's weenus!

Sorry, trying to lighten it up a bit.

I think Brian has a good point and is also trying to make us jealous. I've never seen one of this specific type, other than in museums.
:D Ron

PS In English, the 'weenus' is the wrinkled up skin on your elbow.
