Yes, James is right. It's a Bavarian Police helmet from the 1920's or 1930's era.

I used to have one minus the chinscales. I sold it back in the 1980's, after I found out it was not military, and was post-WW1 era. Mine did not have a perforated liner sweatband like this one does.

How much are they asking for it? I notice the price tag is turned over in your photos. :?

All the Best,

Alan

They are asking $285. I'm a military collector, but primarily WWII, so it does take it down a notch not being war issue or even military. I may would still buy it if I get a good price and could potentially trade it off for something more in my line.

You'd better snap that one up. Ask if they'll take 5% - 10% off, they may or may not.

You can certainly use it for trade, or sell it and make a profit. You should not have any trouble getting rid of it.

Best Regards,

Alan

Also, thank you guys for the help! I had figured out it was Bavarian, but I only knew the machine screws=bad when determining whether it was real or not. That was my only knowledge of determining authenticity.

Again, I think you did great at that price! Want to double your money :D

Thank you sir :) I think I will keep it for now. I have only had it for about 5 hours, but I find it to be a beautiful piece and am already becoming attached to it lol. I can certainly see the attraction that collectors have to these. :)

Must be wrong #-o ... Show some pics please. You have so many things we want to see :-k ...

I have to agree with Adler.

I don't mean to be rude, but this person Adler refers to has left several "Snarky" (sharp, rude, "snidely", whatever you want to call them) comments since joining us a short time ago. Many of this person's comments seem to put them in "Attack" mode against other members on here from what I've seen in the short time since they have decided to join this friendly group of collectors.

I'm obviously not a moderator here, and maybe I'm out of line in saying this: I really have to wonder if this person has anything positive to contribute in a positive tone of communication? I can only wonder after reading this person's postings since they've joined recently. Why would someone want to be on here if all they want to do is to be negative, and "attack" other members with their sharp comments? We are all here to help each other out, to share and to learn, and most of all, to have fun with a really great group of fellow collectors. :)

Best Regards,

Alan

Seems ok, but it is post WW1... look at the perforated liner...

Far away from any "snarkiness", and just for my information, I would like to question Adler's statement: are all these perforated liners really post-war productions? Larcade shows several of the Kaiser's helmets kept at Doorn and mentions that several had perforated liners (and shows a picture of one). Were these made - or just the liners changed - after the war?..
I have also seen a number a well-worn officer helmets with liners perforated in the forehead area...

Good question. I always thought so. Let me dig around in my catalogs and see if I can find one. The lack of finding one proves nothing of course.
