Is this a Saxon cork?

Look at the rear visor. A leather reinforcing band and the interior. Is it cork with a black lacquered cover?

Joe, I would say felt with black shellac outside finish. The dead give away, is the shot of the underside of the rear visor
. It is curled under much like the BAden filz helme I posted pics of. Remember the thread where we all discussed this type of helmet? Too bad his "many photos" did not include one direct front on shot so we could see what the wappen might have been. Brian
