Is this common?

Is it common to have a Pickelhaube that was initially assigned to a Saxon infantry regiment reassigned to a Prussian train regiment without any BKA repair facility markings?

I have seen over-stamped unit markings before on helmets, but they always seem to have repair depot marks as well. Usually the original unit stamp is blacked out.

And yes, this is coming out of England.

Both sets of markings look original but I would not buy this....the grommets are missing from the original Saxon wappen holes so that tells me the helmet was initially Saxon and an M95 with brass fittings....why remove steel grommets?? These holes are also "factory" punched, the Garde ones are not. The patina on the GArde wappen does not match the rest of the fittings. Too many anomalies, too many things that require "explanations", it could be legit, but it comes from the UK and if you were to purchase it, then you are stuck with all those explanations. So, no not common and when I began collecting, I heard from many dealers the old explanation for markings that did not match the wappen or 2 sets of holes......well he was transferred to a different regiment. BS for the most part and we are dealing with Govt OR property, not officer.

I fully agree!

Leave this alone and I am sure a better one (which requires less explanations) will show up :D

Regards.
