Isn't this the wrong plate?

Gentlemen, what a great thread this is :headbang: . Untill now, I had nothing to add, because you know more abouth this than I do...
But guess what happened \:D/ ... I found a nice picture of an IR92 officer wearing his helmet. To me it seems there is no furled bandeau and it seems that the skull obscures the Fuerst bandeau... I also don't see a reserve cross...
First one is the original picture, second is a little bit enhanced.
I sure hope this helps or in the worst case we can get a bit more confused ](*,) ? Can you give your opinions please?

Beautiful photo Karel. There is clearly no furled Bandeau which means there would not be a FUERST above the Totenkopf as it is part of the Bandeau. He is wearing a Reserve/Landwehr Eagle Wappen, but as you said, where is his Landwehr cross??

Hmmm...
On Karels picts I can see no bandeau....and no reserve cross...maybe under the chinscales?... #-o
And the guy on this pict really seems to be pretty amused about of our confusion... :P

Philippe :salute:

So we can conclude some strange combinations are possible :-k ?
I guess we all want to have textbook haubes, but since Officers haubes were private purchase, it's possible that there are some variations or maybe better said "custom" differences :-" ?
Maybe Weitze's helmet is not textbook, but maybe the original owner didn't care about the other bandeau? Or maybe it wasn't that big deal?
For me still a lot of maybe's...

This is what we call acute postcard envy. What a fantastic picture!

My understanding is that only the reserve had the peninsula scroll. I understand that Landwehr did not. I also understood that they did not use the skull & crossbones. As in all things I can be wrong.

I personally don't like bidding or buying something with too many "maybes" when there is enough examples to say differently. Great pic Karl!!! In my opinion majority rules in this hobby but yes anything is possible. thats why I BANG MY HEAD!!!! ](*,) ](*,) ](*,)

This one seems to be wrong all the way around...

Man, "Wilson Research ... Center"??? It seems to me this place has had any number of fakes and misrepresented items. Reminds me of a local who had a 'tank museum' and mislabeled everything. He even had an "M7 Howitzer Tank", which is an oxymoron.

Pretty bad helmet and too bad it's being put forward by somebody who considers themselves to be an 'authority'. ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) [-X
