J-L. Larcade. R.I.P.?

I hope not also. I'll look a right charlie if I'm wrong here, which is what I'd rather happen, but it came from a fella that knows him. Those two books of his are gems - absolutely my favorites of all that I have, and I look at them all the time so I feel greatly indebted to him as well.

Yes I had confirmation that JL Larcade is dead. And I heard that Didier Laine also passed away! The two French masters of the Pickelhaube. These are very sad news.

I can merely echo what has already been said. These two gentlemen provided us with the best pickelhaube references. The Laine book is etremely easy to use and full of information. With the Larcade books, I finally began to understand the evolution of the pickelhaube and get a real grasp for the subject. Part of the thrill of my purchasing a JR115 EM helmet was the fact that Lacarde had one on his front cover. Their works survive them and will still be used by the next generation of pickelhaube collectors. Brian
