Hi Guys
I think i read somewhere that leather chinstraps on JzP and Kurassier helmets are longer than the standard pickelhaube ones. Is this correct, and if so how much longer are they?

If I'm not mistaken, they were the same to optimize production, same as the Infantry cockades which were used on the cavalry metalhelms as well (although this wasn't always adhered to and many preferred to keep/add the larger cavalry cockades).
 
Thanks guys - seems perfectly logical. The thing that worries me now is that I must have imagined it...... 8-[
 
The Kurasier helmet that I had had much longer chinstra on it due to the larger size of the helmet. James LeB now owns it, so I am unable to measure it.

I thought they were longer also.... At least they look longer in photos(i don't own one) or maybe they are just adjusted to be longer. good question though I was wondering the same.
 
Just managed to check with an original Kurassier strap and they are the same length - so I needn't have wasted everyone's time! happy New Year to you all
