Jager zu Pferde Helmet

Looks OK to me apart for one of the wappen retaining leather wedges which seems like a modern replacement but that's not a big deal... You'd only need to complete it with a leather chinstrap with grey fittings and a good pair of cockades--ideally the large Cavalry ones and if you find 2 pairs, let me know!
The spike looks like it might not be original to the helmet--it has aged differently from its presumed base--however it is the correct JZP type (slightly taller than the regular infantry spike).

I noticed the nuts too. The look like they've been on there since it's last repaint (wear, paint oxidation, etc) Or this guy is much better at matching paint than I am ;-) I believe the seller is the same one that's described in the Reserve pickelhaube thread in the Ebay section:

That being the case.... hmmmmm.... :-k [-(

Nuts!!
I hadn't noticed these... Should be squared but then again the paint job looks authentic/matching...
In my haste, I hadn't noticed that infamous seller either...
Anything this guy sells I would stir away from, but one must admit replicas are getting harder to tell from the real thing!

Well, that can be a problem, even a seller who seems less than knowledgeable will sometimes have a good item. This one could be 100% authentic except for the 'nuts' :???: To me, except for the problems pointed out above, it does look authentic, but like you say, who knows? He does have a return policy, so that's good.

Thanks guys - under the circumstances I'll keep clear (although it did look good - apart from the nuts). Keep my eyes open for a wartime Kurassier helm instead!

This one has been there for a couple of weeks if not more.
It looks genuine but is overpriced given the overall condition, the absent Prussian Cockade--although quite desirable, it has the large cavalry Reichs cockades on both sides--, the missing spike base rivets, and the brass M1895 chinstrap (should be gray/steel M1915 style instead)...

True - a Lachmann it isn't! What do you think would be a reasonable price - I might make him a cheeky offer!!

Current Price: $1,495
Missing Prussian Large Cockade: -$175 (unless you can swap 1 of the Reichs cockades with someone who has 2 Prussian ones!)
Missing Rivets: -$100 (I don't know how you would ever be able to get these)
Wrong strap: -$220 (it does technically come with a genuine strap but you can still try your luck)

I would suggest offering $1,000 or better yet waiting for the helmet not to sell for this (2nd or 3rd) round and then making that offer (chances are the seller would've lowered the price by then).
Worst case, you lose it to someone else and wait for a better one to show-up like I am :D

This is a Prussian Kürassier M1915 Metahelm with the wrong (Jäger zu Pferde) spike...

No worries! It took me about a year to pass Pickelhaubes 101 myself.
Now working my way through Micropickelhaubics... 8-[
