This is a collection of 109 Jan K. Kube auction catalogs. They date from 1974, which I believe may be Kube’s first auction. The most recent is from May 2021. The set includes several catalogs from the Sonderauktions, or special auctions. Also included in the lot are six editions of Die Tradition, which are short histories of German military units and personnel from various historical periods. These are pamphlets that Kube published periodically and sent to his subscribers. Early editions of the catalogs have exclusively black and white photographs while later editions include sets of high-quality color plates. They are all in good readable condition, but some have moderate storage damage due to humidity. These publications belonged to my father and they often have his notes in the margin, mostly indicating final sales prices. He used the Kube auction to monitor the value of things in his collection. Kube published the final sales prices in separate pamphlets which he included in mailings with subsequent auction catalogs. Many of these final sales price documents are included in this lot. It’s not a complete set. There are some missing editions and there are at least two duplicates that I have noticed. It’s all in German of course.

The catalogs are wonderful things to look at. It was always an exciting event for my father and me when the Kube publications arrived in the mail. Featured are many spectacular military relics from various countries and periods, but with emphasis on the Imperial German era. Often things featured were exceptional, rare or unique pieces that you will not find in standard reference works.

I have the collection packed in four boxes each weighing 20 – 29 pounds. I can ship these within the United States for $25.63/per box via media rate. Shipping outside the US would probably be prohibitively expensive but could be done for $181.50/per box. Alternatively, I can bring the collection to the Max Show in Pennsylvania later this month and you can pick it up there. A final option would be to swing by my home in NW Vermont and pick them up here.

The Kube catalogs are selling for $12-$21 (see images below) from dealers on AbeBooks.com. Priced at the lower value, the collection should be worth $1,308. I’m offering the collection at a steep discount for my pickelhaubes.com buddies! : ) Buy now and I’ll throw in a few miscellaneous militaria auction catalogs from other auctioneers including Klenau, Mohawk Arms, and Herman Historica!
