I am posting this for member Steve M. :
Hello to all ;
Here is a pair that I have had in the collection
for a number of years .
By regulations this pair is incorrect
First I do not feel they are put together
If I did I would not even ask the question
The cyphers are for Hessian Inf Regt 117
a matched pair
from the back side we can see they were worn
on a uniform
However , the braid has the Prussian Black & White
colors woven into it
I M O the white underlay would be late change
when all Inf regiments were going to white
the braid is the later subdued grey
the rank is major .

Any feed -back ; opinions

Many thanks
Steve

When the September 1915 regulations came out, a handful of regiments were allowed to keep their traditional colors. The 117th was one of these and they retained their blue color as an inner piping to the white underlay (so-called double piping.) Of course, the Prussian flecking (thread) is also not correct for this regiment.
